Daouia Amrir
About

A kitchen is a form of prayer.

Daouia Amrir writes at the intersection of Islamic teaching, plant-based nutrition, and the modern evidence base. The New Halal is her first book.

Background

This page is a draft. Daouia's full biography will be filled in here — upbringing, training, the path that led her to the kitchen and to the work of The New Halal.

<personal narrative, in her own words>

The work

Her book re-reads the Qur'anic texts on food alongside contemporary nutrition science, and asks a simple question: what would tayyib — wholesome, pure, and good — look like on the plate today? The book is a coffee-table volume in form: photographs, recipes, short teachings. In content it is a teaching book — eighteen chapters that move from halal as a standard to the quiet discipline of a home kitchen.
